RHODODENDRON TRAIL: 08 DAYS
This trek gives you a deep insight of
Sikkim, the place, the people and all that go with them. Treks are short
and non-strenuous in mid altitude up to 2,800m, travelling by
coach has allowed you enough time to experience the
countryside. The highlight of this trip is the stay at Versey
— Rhododendron forest with the towering snow capped peaks in
the background, truly a sight for Gods! Best recommended for
the spring season (April and May)
Day 01:
Fly
Kathmandu
to Biratnagar. Breakfast: Drive to Gangtok. 7hrs approx. On
arrival meet, assist and drive to Gangtok, Overnight hotel.
Day 02:Gangtok: (1,600m) Breakfast:
Visit Enchey Monastery, Government Institute of Cottage
Industry, Dodrul Chorten etc. Afternoon visit Rumtek
Monastery, overnight at hotel.
Day 03:
Gangtok - Hilley - Versey (2,840m - 3 hrs):
Drive to Hilley and then walk through a lush forest of
pines, firs & Rhododendron to Versey, Overnight tourist hut -
Tent.
Day 04:
Day halt at Versey:
The entire day exploring the area and savouring the sight and
the scent of the flowers, Overnight tourist hut/Tent.
Day 05:
Versey - Dentam - Pemayangtse: (2,805m)
Walk
downhill to the
village of Dentam, and drive to Pemayangste, visit Pemayangtse
Monastery, overnight hotel.
Day 06:
Pemayangste - Khecheodpalri lake - pemayangste:
Drive
to
Khecheodpalri
Lake, "wishing lake". Afternoon short walk to Sangachholing Monastery,
overnight hotel.
Day 07:
Pemayangtse - Siliguri. (133km)
Breakfast: five hours drive leisurely along the
Tista River to the southern plains, overnight at hotel.
Day 08:
Siliguri-Biratnagar (150km - 4 hrs)
Breakfast: drive to Biratnagar airport for your onward flight
to
Kathmandu.

KHANGCHENDZONGA "WHITE MAGIC TREK": 11 DAYS
This strenuous trek takes you up to Goecha-la at
5,000m opposite the eastern face of
Mt.
KHANGCHENDZONGA (8,435m) the third highest mountain in the world and also one of
the most majestic peaks. The treks begins though dense
subtropical forests and passes, vast pasture lands of grazing
yaks and finally reaches the alpine region where the only
vegetation are shrubs rising a few inches above the ground.
The day temperatures would rise to maximum of 15 degrees
Celsius, while during the trek minimum temperature will plunge
to a couple of degrees below zero.
Day 01:
Fly
Kathmandu to Biratnagar:
Drive to Siliguri. (150km. - 4 hrs) Upon arrival meet, assist
and transfer to Siliguri. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02:
Siliguri - Yuksom: (1,770m):
Drive to Yuksom, the starting points of the trek. Overnight
Trekkers hut - tents.
Day 03:
Yuksom - Tshoka: (2,745m)
The trek begins though semi tropical forests occasionally
crossing beautiful mountain streams. Overnight Trekkers hut -
tents.
Day 04:
Tshoka - Dzongri: (4,200m)
A steep climb with the magnificent view of
Mt. Khangchendzonga and Mt. Pandim. Overnight at Trekkers hut
- tents.
Day 05:
Dzongri - Thangsing: (3,930m) A relatively
easy trails, a clear view of
Mt. Khangchendzonga. After lunch, a slight climb, overnight at
tents.
Day 06:
Thangsing - Samiti Pokhari: (4500m - 3 hrs
approx.) The trail is fairly even up to a village and
onwards you walk for about half an hour. Overnight at tents.
Day 07:
Samiti Pokhari - Goechala - Samiti Pokhari:
(5,002m - 3 hrs)
Early morning climb to view the east face of
Khangchendzonga, overnight at tents.
Day 08:
Samiti Pokhari - Thangsing Back track to the
Thangsing River, overnight at tents.
Day 09:
Thansing - Bakhim:
(2,684m - 12km - 3 hrs) Descend to Phedang instead of going to
Dzongri. Then steep descent to Bakhim, overnight at tents.
Day 10:
Bakhim-Yuksom: (12km - 4 hrs)
The last day of the trek, retrace the trail to Yuksom at your
own leisure, take a stroll around the lake, overnight at
Trekkers hut / tents.
Day 11:
Yuksom-Pemayangste / Gangtok as per your choice.
